Use
Neodymium oxide is mainly used as a coloring agent for glass and ceramics, a raw material for manufacturing metallic neodymium and a raw material for strong magnetic neodymium iron boron.
Adding 1.5% to 2.5% nano neodymium oxide to magnesium alloys or aluminum alloys improves the alloy’s high-temperature performance, airtightness, and corrosion resistance, and it is widely used as an aerospace material.
Doped neodymium oxide yttrium aluminium garnet produces short-wave laser beams, which are widely used in industry for welding and cutting thin materials with a thickness of up to 10 mm.
In medicine, yttrium aluminium garnet lasers doped with neodymium oxide can be used instead of a scalpel for removing surgery or sterilizing wounds.
Neodymium oxide is also used to color glass and ceramic materials as well as rubber products and additives.
