HW-AI-I(honeycomb shaped)-Metallographic alumina grinding disc Product features

This lapping process can replace metallographic sandpaper. Due to the continuous supply of lubricants, the working layer of the grinding disc optimizes the working method of alumina particles. The surface structure ensures better flatness for all samples.

  • The main abrasive material is modified alumina, designed specifically to replace silicon carbide sandpaper. One grinding disc can replace 200-300 sheets of silicon carbide sandpaper of the same specification.
  • The product is available in stainless steel plate (magnetic).
  • Product Features: Simple and cost-effective: One grinding disc can replace 200-300 sheets of aluminum oxide sandpaper of the same specification.
  • Consistent Cutting: Provides stable and consistent high grinding cutting force. ※ Sandpaper is only sharp at the start of grinding, after which its sharpness declines linearly.

Application areas:

  • Materials science, metal identification, failure analysis, manufacturing, materials research and development, diamond and gemstone craftsmanship, electronics and the semiconductor industry.
  • Double-sided lapping machine, single-side lapping machine.

2. How to Choose

Specific applications should be determined according to the hardness of the workpiece material and your current processing needs.
Usage Instructions:
Place the grinding pad directly onto the magnetic machine plate. No need for polishing cloth or additional abrasives (polishing liquid); simply use tap water to start the grinding process.
For very sensitive sample processing, a non-corrosive liquid can be used instead of water as a lubricant.
To achieve precise sample flatness and ensure even wear of the grinding pad, the sample in the sample holder should protrude a few millimeters beyond the grinding pad’s working surface.

3. Precaution

  1. To achieve higher flatness, avoid placing labels or similar objects on the bottom of the pad to prevent impacting the flatness of the workpiece.
  2. Ensure that the contact surface between the grinding disc and the machine is very flat, clean, and dry to avoid impacting the workpiece’s flatness.
  3. After use, carefully remove the pad, rinse with water, and let it air dry.
  4. Avoid bending or damaging the precision grinding disc.
  5. When installing or removing, do so carefully to avoid magnetic attraction pinching your hands.
