Praseodymium
Pure Metal Praseodymium is a silvery-white, ductile metal that forms a green oxide that rapidly darkens in air and is usually sealed in plastic or immersed in oil. Like other rare earth elements, Praseodymium oxides are used to make electrodes for high-strength carbon arc lamps used in searchlights and animation projectors. The main use of Praseodymium is in alloys made from magnesium, which are stronger and more corrosion-resistant than base metals and are used in the manufacture of parts for airplanes and motorcycles. The salt is also often added to enamel and glass to tint the color. Praseodymium salts are also often added to enamel and glass to tint them yellow.
