Sulfates

Sulfate, a compound consisting of sulfate ions and other metal ions, is almost always electrolytic and mostly soluble in water. Sulfate is a strong acid with a wide range of uses. Sulfate is also a raw material for the chemical synthesis of certain anaerobic bacteria. Anhydrous rare-earth sulfate is a hygroscopic powder that dissolves well in water and is exothermic.
