Holmium

The pure metal Holmium has only recently been obtained, and is like most rare earths: bright silver-white, very soft and easily stretchable. Strongly corrosion-resistant in dry air; fades quickly in humid air due to the formation of yellowish oxides, Holmium is mainly used in high-performance lasers in the form of Yttrium Aluminum crystals with traces of Holmium added, which can be used in surgery for specific tumors with minimal damage to the surrounding tissues of the affected area.
