Fluoride refers to organic or inorganic compounds containing negatively valued fluorine. Fluorine can form binary compounds with all elements except He, Ne and Ar. Rare-earth fluorides are mostly gray, powdery, insoluble in water and soluble in acid. It is obtained by the reaction of fluorine-containing compounds and rare earth compounds under certain conditions. It has good chemical stability and is a good optical substrate material.
